This month’s featured artist has made it way cool to be environmentally conscious! Join us during this coming 1^st Wednesday Art Walk in Downtown Chandler to experience unique “upcycled” (*see below) artwork by local artist, Sandy Schimmel-Gold.  Sandy creates an under-painting, and then carefully places a mosaic of junk-mail and greeting cards she has received over the years—so environmentally conscious! 

 

Also, we will be hosting a wine tasting of some of our boutique wines selected by our fabulous in-house wine expert, Tonya.  Ask Tonya to help you select the perfect wine for your Mother’s Day dinner….OR pair your wine with some amazing Vosges chocolate, available at Inspirador.  A selection of Vosges Chocolates and gifts are 40% off during the show and an incredible gift to give…don’t miss out!

$20,000 Rides Out in Classic Style! March 19, 2008

This wonderful news is LOOOONG overdue!!!  The amazing job of a quaint and classic barbershop in Historic Downtown Chandler and the support of the City of Chandler have proven that in a few short hours on a Saturday afternoon…struggling women can struggle a lot less this year.  The tremendous turnout of the 5th Annual Hot Rod & Classic Car Show helped raise over $20,000 in support of MY SISTER’S PLACE.The funds will help My Sister’s Place to provide a secure emergency shelter for women and their children who suffer from family violence.  We were truly inspired to be a neighbor and participant of this wonderful annual event.  Now that’s worth toasting too…CHEERS!  See you all next year!

While the 5th Annual Chandler Hot Rod & Classic Car Show has become an exciting tradition for this time of year.  It has also become a meaningful gathering for car enthusiasts and patrons of Downtown Chandler who will help support abused women.  All proceeds from the car show are being donated to a local charity MY SISTER’S PLACE.  The event is FREE!

My Sister’s Place is a secure emergency shelter for women and their children who suffer from family violence.  Safe “homes” like these are crucial to provide abused women a chance and hope for a brighter future for their children.   

Join us this weekend for a special toast to My Sister’s Place during our BEER and WINE tasting and we will donate a percentage of our sales proceeds after the show directly to the coordinators of this wonderful event.

DoCha Vida BRIDAL WALK January 16, 2008

We are so very excited for the first DoCha Vida Bridal Walk. It’s open to the public for FREE…but we are impressed with the number of RSVP’s for this event. Rikki, The Invitation Lady www.theinvitationlady.com designed the signature invitations that were mailed to a group of V.I.P. brides and grooms. The design for the whole invitation package was just GORGEOUS!

Our “DoCha Vida” neighbors are worth a visit to Downtown Chandler. TONS of free prizes have been donated by the merchants including: many $100 gift certificates to some of the valley’s best restaurants, a Free wedding gown, photography sessions, gift baskets, accomodations, spa packages, wedding cakes, and so much more. The raffle table will be FILLED with goodies to win.

Pete and Jere from Images Salon and Day Spa www.imagesatsanmarcos.com stopped by and offered our guests free chair massages to help ward off some holiday stresses. They had quite a line up. Tonia and Diane from Uptown Bridal www.uptownbrides.com showed off a gorgeous gown, tux, and flower girl dress on the Aisle of Poetry. Julie from InPockets Bakery www.inpockets.com dropped off some incredibly delicious cakes, monogrammed cookies, tarts, and cream puffs…very pretty too. We LOVE independent Wedding Planners and Event Designers! Regardless of where you get married and regardless of whether or not your venue has an “in-house” coordinator…consider hiring your very own “wedding stylist”…it’s SO much fun! Amy thought of 10 top reasons why she wished she had hired one when she got married:

 

 

Top Ten Reasons You Should Hire A Wedding Planner

1. Consultations: Most planners do not charge for an initial consultation. Give them a call to see how they can help! You don’t lose anything; if anything you gain some ideas and maybe an advocate for planning your big day.
2. Services: Planners will share with you their “menu” of services. It can be “Full-Service” or anything from initial planning of your theme or colors, to assisting you with drafting a budget, and of course the “day of” service, so you and your family & friends can fully enjoy your wedding day.
3. Budget: An extension of the services menu is budget. To stay within your monetary boundaries, planners will work with you to best meet your goals and hopefully get the most “bang” for your buck.
4. Resources: Why go all around town, making your head spin when you can tap into your planner for vendor recommendations. Not too impressed by their list, or looking for something different? —Your planner will make every effort to help you find it.
5. Theme: You have likely spent your entire life up to this point, envisioning the perfect wedding with that special someone. Your planner can help you fill in the gaps by providing some ideas that you may not have thought of, and take your dream wedding “to the next level”.
6. Organizational Skills: I have yet to meet a planner who didn’t possess some level of amazing organizational skills. You’ll want someone to keep you on task…planning a wedding is no easy feat, especially if you are organizationally challenged. (Like I was! —Ok, I still have my ADHD moments.)

9. Worry-Free Wedding Day: Did I mention “Day-Of” services? Believe me when I say that you need to be free of the nagging details of hosting a major event. You are the bride, you should be primping, preening, and gazing into the eyes of your new spouse, not directing the caterers to take out the trash or reminding the guest book girl to keep her feet off the table.
